Love Aaj Kal | Movie Review

Synopsis:

Delhi, Calcutta - 1965

Veer Singh is struck by the thunderbolt when he sees Harleen and swears that "is janam mein aur har janam mein... yehi meri votti banegi - Harleen Kaur." He travels a thousand kilometers by train to stand under her balcony only to have a glimpse of her face. And yet not speak a word with her.

London, San Francisco, Delhi - 2009

Jai and Meera are modern-day couple living in London. They are very happy together but do not believe in tying each other down. So when life pulls them in different directions, they decide to go with the flow. "These Heer-Ranjha, Romeo-Juliet type Janam janam ka saath type couples exist only in story books", Jai says. In the real life, we have to be practical.

Saif Ali Khan’s production company Illuminati Films was inspired by Clint Eastwood.

Khan heard how his boyhood hero started Malpaso Productions and decided to follow suit. 

The company’s name also has an American influence. It has been taken from Dan Brown’s Angels And Demons where Illuminati describes emerging from darkness into light and echoes Khan’s vision to make enlightening cinema.

Love Aaj Kal, directed by Imtiaz Ali, is his first production.

Eros International wants Imtiaz Ali + Hrithik Roshan

Director Imtiaz Ali completes post-production of ‘Love Aaj Kal’ starring Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone in the leas roles will finally be moving onto his next production. Eros International has signed the director for their next. Hrithik Roshan has been approached for the lead role in the film.

An industry source reveals, “Eros International signed Hrithik Roshan a couple of years back for an English film to be produced with Carving Dreams. But even after repeated story sessions, the project never took off. Now, Eros has gone back to Hrithik and wants to make a film with him in the lead.”

The source further adds, “Eros is co-producing Saif Ali Khan’s home production Love Aaj Kal and are so impressed with the film’s director Imtiaz Ali that they thought he’d be an ideal choice for direct a movie with Hrithik starring. A few days back, Imtiaz gave Hrithik a lengthy narration. Apparently Hrithik loved the idea and is game for a project with the Jab We Met maker. Other paperwork is being okayed for the same project.”
