The backdrop is very classy and stylish. The story is really nice and quite interesting. First 1/2 an hour seems to strethc too long, but after that the movie turns out quite interesting.
The songs are ok, quite slow, not too catchy. Acting is good overall, except for Katrina, who looks really uncomfortable in many scenes.

G/PG

Katrina shares her ex's Salman experience
Salman has seen few flops in the recent past while Katrina is riding a high horse. When she was asked about his fading career, she promptly replied, “No matter how well or badly Salman’s films do, he’ll always be a superstar. There’s just no taking away from that fact; he’ll always be iconic...”
Whatever Sallu miya has decided about his affair with Katrina but listening to Kat, it is quite comprehensible that she wanted to continue her relationship with him.
Asin Ghajini Girl Bags more Awards
After bagging several awards for her Bollywood debut film ‘Ghajini’, South Indian beauty Asin has added another accolode to her kitty. The actress is all set to receive an international award for her role in Kamal Hassan`s Tamil film ‘Dasavatharam’. The Hindi version of the film released this Friday.
The award is organised by a Singapore-based International Tamil Film Awards (ITFA). The ITFA, recognizes the contribution of film artists towards Tamil cinema on an international scale. Asin will be presented with the award on May 16 in Singapore.
Asin has played a memorable role in ‘Dasavatharam’ as a touch-me-not Brahmin girl, who talks non-stop through her screen-time. With so many awards and accolades, the lady will go a long way, for sure.
The ITFA was instituted to recognize, honour and applaud all who have contributed towards the success of Tamil films at an international level. This is being held at Singapore Expo Max Pavilion. About 21 awards will be presented in various categories to the best in the Tamil film industry.
Meanwhile, it is heard that Asin is being considered for the female lead opposite Shahrukh Khan in an untitled Hindi film by Yash Raj Films (YRF). The original choice for the role was Katrina Kaif, but Shahrukh Khan preferred Asin as he wants to keep a safe distance from Salman Khan and Co. So, Katrina is reportedly out and Asin is in.
Asin is currently busy shooting for Vipul Shah’s musical entertainer London Dreams, starring veterans Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan in principal roles. Produced by the director himself, London Dreams will release in August 2009.

Bollywood Age Discrimination
And, Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sushmita Sen who made their debuts in the 90s are also fast being relegated to the background. Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt says, “Even in Hollywood a Julia Roberts is feeling the tremors of the end. Whether you’re a street walker, an actor or in any other glamorous profession, there is a premium on youth. One can’t flinch away from the fact that an actor has a limited shelf life; and in this consumerist age where society is youth-obsessed, there is no place for people beyond a particular age. Even a child in an average school wants his mother to look like the young, television mother in a soap opera or a television commercial. Age controls the days and the nights of the entertainment world.’’
Facts that corroborate the theory that in showbiz, the younger the better, come from recent study that show that Aishwarya lost three endorsements — for a jewellery line, a soap and a doll to Katrina Kaif; Kareena is the reigning Bollywood queen; Priyanka is the preferred actress when the role needs “histrionics’’; Deepika looks good with Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan. Akshay Kumar wants to team up with Jiah Khan; Shahid Kapoor wishes to serenade Genelia D’Souza; Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan prefer Asin over Amisha Patel; and, Abhishek Bachchan wants to share screen space with Sonam.
So in this fast changing scenario, where do the 90s’ beauties like Rani/Preity/Shilpa Shetty/Amisha fit in?
Trade writer Vinod Mirani says, “They’re considered for the occasional meaty role, but with the production numbers having gone down, the roles have dried up for the older lot. The heroes well into their 40s invariably ask their producers to get them younger heroines.’’ A filmmaker adds, “In Bollywood, the heroines are absolutely inter-changeable; switching Deepika with Katrina makes no difference to a project.’’So 43-year-old Salman will team up with 20-something Sonakshi Sinha (daughter of Shatrughan Sinha); Akshay Kumar (41) wants Jiah (21) in his film Housefull; and Aamir Khan (44) is definitely gung-ho about romancing Asin (25). Even Shah Rukh (43) made the perfect pair with Anushka (22). Of course, in the next round, the bar will be pushed down further, and the reigning Bollywood stars will definitely make a play for the new teenager on the block. When Amitabh Bachchan romanced Shilpa Shetty in Lal Badshah, one of his older leading ladies had joked, “Amitji is learning to change nappies; next he will be romancing Baby Guddu on screen.’’

Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif Just Chill
Admitted that the media sometimes goes overboard in painting Salman as the bad brat of Bollywood, but it can’t be denied that Salman is a man who likes to live rough and tough. His mood swings and erratic behavior have often been fodder for his detractors; not to forget his drinking binges that seem to have stopped only recently since the last few months. On the other hand, Katrina is not only 19 years younger to Salman, she is entirely a different personality.
Folks who know the actress say she is gentle, soft-spoken and very sensitive to another person’s emotions. Kat herself admitted a few days back that she is “a hopeless romantic”.
Given these contrasting traits, it’s no wonder that Sal-Kat affair has been a turbulent one from the start. Every next week, tabloids are splashed with stories of spat between the couple. One day he allegedly ‘slaps’ Katrina publicly; another day he spoils her birthday party by picking up fight with another Khan.
Many times, obituaries of their romance have been penned by eager gossipmongers, but the couple has stuck together so far through the thick and thin of it all, proving time and again that there’s something that binds them stronger than anyone imagines.
And even as you read this, there’s another rumour of the couple’s split spreading faster than wildfire in B-Town. This time, it’s being said that Salman is “unhappy” about Katrina’s growing closeness to Ranbir Kapoor , her co-star in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani . Rumour says Sallu and Kat had a verbal fight over this issue a few days ago and have decided to split.
The facts on the ground, however, suggest otherwise. Hardly a fortnight ago, Katrina was seen flaunting the T-shirt of Salman Khan’s ‘Being Human’ foundation when she mingled with slum kids. And friends of the couple are quoted as saying that there is no love lost between them. And even if the couple did fight, as the rumors claim, that doesn’t mean they have split. Almost everyone reading this story must have had similar squabbles with his or her partner.
Anyway, it’s better to have a little turbulence in a relationship than have a plain and staid affair. So, without being judgmental, our simple suggestion to the gossipmongers is the same as what Salman and Katrina would have for them – “JUST CHILL”.
Saawariya Trivia
- This is the first Bollywood film to be produced and released by a Hollywood production company (Columbia TriStar Pictures).
- A scene in the film (and a poster) shows Raj (Ranbir Kapoor) and Sakina (Sonam Kapoor) posing in a waltz-like manner, with the letters RK from a lighted sign in the background. This scene captures the logo of the R.K. Films Company, founded by Ranbir Kapoor's grandfather, Raj Kapoor.
- The film was shot in tones of green, blue and black to give it a surreal, dream-like atmosphere.
- Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali composed the song "Thode Badmash."
- According to Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film is a tribute to his grandmother, who spent her whole life waiting for her son Navin Bhansali to return home. He found that aspect of love (of waiting for someone close to return to you) an interesting theme to capture in a film.
- Cinematographer 'Ravi K Chandran' used as a reference the works of art by the famous artists Frederick Arthur Bridgman, Fred R Wagner and William Louis Sontag to make the shots resemble paintings and thus look more poetic..
- Space lights were used extensively to establish the painted look of the film.
- For the daytime scenes, space lights were used ordinarily; for the night-time scenes, the space lights were applied with ¼ CT Blue gel to achieve a cool nightly mood.
- Music director Monty Sharma and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali spent two and a half years working on the film's soundtrack.
- Throughout the "Masha Allah" song, Sakina carries a black/white/red shawl. This shawl was an original antique piece. It took costume designer Anuradha Vakeal four months to locate a similar garment to keep as a substitute for emergencies.

The set, props, and colors of this movie are superb, though the story is really slow. The actors such as Salman Khan and Rani M, did beautiful job shaping their characters, but the new comers really struggled with their expressions and chemistry.
Rated PG 13

The first half of the movie is waste and boring, not to mention there are a lot of unnecessary put downs and insults to American and Englanders, as if common sense does not exists.
Even though the cast is superb, but because of no originality and flaw dialogues in this real global economy, there should be some respect for all kinds of people.
The music is sore to hears, too harsh. Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan do their role as they should have, as they did terrific.
Rated PG 13
